Adobe's pre-release tour | new year special
Yesterday I attended the newyear event organized by Adobe User Group Belgium, multimediacollege and Plugmedia. The event was at "Het Pand" in Ghent (close to where I live), the agenda looked promising, and there was a newyear reception afterwards... so I couldn't miss this one.

Anyway, I tought I'd share some of the things the speakers had to say:
First Serge Jespers gave us an overview of new products to be released by Adobe. Adobe AIR should be out soon, I'm really looking foward to that. I played around with the beta already, and I'm considering making an AIR application out of the art project I did some time ago (and release it for free). Serge didn't give us a specific date, but it should be real soon now.

He also mentioned Thermo. I heared about it before, but didn't pay much attention to it. Now I've seen a demo video, I'm looking forward to the release of it. This could be a really interesting application which could close the gap between designers and developers. As always I'm a bit skeptical, but it defenetly looks promising.

And last but not least, Flex builder 3. Too bad I didn't win a free copy of Flex builder 3 during the raffle at the end of the event. But I'll defenetly upgrade when its officially released.

The second speaker was James Ward. I've seen presentations about the Data Services before, but still it was interesting. Check out his "BlazeBench" tool, which shows the power of AMF3: http://www.jamesward.org/blazebench/

There were also 2 community speakers. First there was Christophe Herreman, he talked about the Prana framework. With lots of designers in the room, I'm not sure this was the ideal audience. But defenetly interesting for developers. The last speaker was Jérôme Cordiez showed us his "lovely charts" application. A clean and polished Flex application for creating charts online. Nice work!

Happy newyear!
Happy new year everyone!
Now the partying is over, it's time to start working again. Check back soon for some project updates!
Actionscript generated abstract art
I'm working on a piece of actionscript code that can generate unique abstract artworks. The engine I wrote so far reads color data from any image you feed it, then generates a random piece based on some settings.
Currently it spits out about 5 different styles, but each generated image is unique.

Here are some examples:

I created a Flickr gallery with some more results, you can check those here:

The idea is to create an online tool, where anyone can upload an image, change some settings, and then generate his/her own abstract piece. Maybe something I can work out during the holidays ;)
Alchemist game video

For those of you who haven't heard yet, "Alchemist" is the title of a new game in development by Very Interactive People.

Alchmist is a match-3 game with a refreshing gameplay. I like to call it "match-3 with a twist". Anyway, a picture is worth a thousand words, so I posted a little video on youtube to show you the gameplay.

The release of this game is planned very soon, so check back regulary for more news.

Very Interactive People blog!

They say its typical for webdevelopers to neglect their own website. Working hard delivering quality work to our clients, it is hard to find time to work on our own websites.
I'm guilty of this too... so while I'm working on the amazing Very Interactive People-website, I present you the amazing Very Interactive People-blog!

Check back regulary to read about the V.I.P-projects, news, and hopefully, to find a website here soon.
